Teachers required for Te Rangihakahaka Centre for Science and Technology

Te Rangihakahaka Centre for Science and Technology is a Ngāti Whakaue partnership school for years 1 to 10 committed to the sustainability of Ngāti Whakaue reo and tikanga. We are recruiting a foundation team of up to four teachers who will join the centre in December 2017 ready for a 30 January 2018 opening.

Te Rangihakahaka will provide opportunities for all ākonga to ignite their passion in learning with a focus on the sciences and mātauranga Māori. We will do this by delivering a meaningful and relevant curriculum drawn largely from our own local context and mātauranga ā Iwi. Through the Ngāti Whakaue science curriculum – Te Whareaonui o Te Rangihakahaka – ākonga will learn to understand and appreciate the technological world in which we live, the environmental complexities of our planet and the interdependency and connectedness of the biological world. As a STEAM school our programme will support ākonga and their whānau to develop and explore their passions in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.

We are looking to build a team of experienced pouako who are passionate about learning, teaching and education. They will be prepared to continuously improve their practice and be driven to excellence. As curious minds in their own right, pouako will embrace the opportunity to pursue two individual learning enquiries each year and will be committed to their own journey of mastering te reo Māori.

The success of our team of pouako will be measured by the enthusiasm of ākonga to learn, grow and contribute – “Hei aha au i mate noa ake ai, ka tupu āku pakarito”

To be successful in your application you will:

  • Have the drive and determination to be a consistently excellent teacher
  • Be a hard worker and a positive team player
  • Be dedicated to raising attainment and accelerating progress for each and every student
  • Be reflective about your own practice and welcome high-quality coaching
  • Be passionate about engaging and enthusing tamariki to learn
  • Embrace the flexibility to be creative and make learning exciting and purposeful
