Te Pokapū provides housing navigation services for the Rotorua region. The service aims to triage and assess housing needs whilst providing a relationships and clinical response if required. This team comprises of:
Whilst Te Pokapū do not provide houses, the team are the frontline navigators to access pathways across the housing continuum including emergency housing, housing first, transitional housing and other housing responses.
The team work collaboratively alongside the Ministry of Social development, Ministry of Housing and Urban development, Iwi providers and other community allies.
The Rangatahi response service is led by Rangatahi for Rangatahi. This service features a research component that ensures service design is current and responsive. An active member of the He Aturangi ka Mamao space also enables support for rangatahi community events, workshops and council initiatives. This service comprises of Rangatahi response co-ordinators, who are well-supported by the Te Pokapū team members.
The employment pathway supports services aims to tautoko manahā that are in receipt of a job-seekers payment. Founded on an aspirational model as opposed to a compliance model, the service focusses on work-readiness, job placement opportunities and pastoral care. The team comprises of both an Employment Leader and Employment Navigator.
The emergency housing navigator role has been designed to work specifically with manahā residing in emergency housing motels. A new initiative for this government will support the transition from insecure housing to a longer-term solution. This service comprises of Emergency Housing Navigators.
